Wow. Only 22 days to go. I'm so nervous. Our costumes are being shipped out next Monday. If we're correct it should arrive around the 26th. We're leaving the 31st. Now you see why I'm nervous. There isn't much wiggle room. Luckily I've been going to the gym and working out almost everyday so if it's too small I should be able to fit into it by then. Hopefully it's the right size though. I'm more worried about it arriving on time. ;_;
Besides that we got some of the last items we'll need for the con.
*Two garment bags You can buy them here (These bags are wonderful for cosplay!)
*Train Trunk make-up case (Also got at Walmart, only 23$!!!)
*Got2B hair spray (I was told by other cosplayers this works well on wigs)
Plus we're going to buy the rest of the make-up next week, in which I'll talk about some products that work well for cosplayers. But anyway today I'm going to talk about being organized since I just got the most amazing case eveeeeer. And I enjoy being organized when it comes to cosplay.
Being organized will help you big time during cons. I may have 22 days left but I'm already starting to pack, even if its something little, such as make-up it can help in the long run. Normally I pack the day before the con but I'm so excited and nervous and all those feelings are horrible when they well up together and jump around in your heart, so I'm doing small things to ease the time.
Even if you are lazy, you can be organized. Just take a few minutes a day. The one thing (for girls anyway) that needs to be organized and keep in order is make-up. Last few cons I've always forgotten something important. This year I got my magical trunk with all our make-up, wig caps and contacts, plus much more.
Allll packed away and neat. I have our contacts (Pandora Hearts contacts anyway, new ones should be here next week) This case is so neat! Not only do all the selves pull out to side (As shown) but the sides (Up and down) have little slits for eyeliner.
So here is a list of items that I bring and you might want to bring too! (Note, all product review are based off my experience using the products. They might be different when used by you. Every product is different for each person. We all don't have the same skin type. So please keep that in mind.)
This year we're cosplaying Sakura and Syaoran from Tsubasa. So our make-up is toned down and kept natural.
Top part is where we have our contacts. The two pink ones are both mine for my Sharon cosplay. The newer ones didn't do well in my eyes so I can't reuse them if we don't get our Tsubasa cosplays and wind up doing our PH cosplays. So the darker pink case has my old ones, hopefully they don't hurt my eyes.
Bottom half has tools. Eyelash curlers (Yes these work), wig tape we got from SALLY'S. And my 1$ Nivea lotion.
This stuff works wonders on dry skin. It helps your skin from flaking even when your make-up is on. It's smooth, spreads easily and is cheap. I love Nivea products but they can be a bit...spendy so I buy the travel one, which is cheap. I also have eye drops but those were cut out of frame. Wig tape is wonderful. It's magical. But I did wear it for a while and had a mild reaction to it. So I suggest wear it with those really heavy wigs or use very small pieces of it. It got really itchy!
Wig caps. Are a much if you don't want smelly wigs that fall all over the place. We got most of ours from buying wigs. Although not all companies give free wig caps with their wigs. You can always buy some at your local beauty store. We have our in their own baggies. As well as a bag of unused ones we got from our new wigs. These go a long way. So save the unused ones for emergencies.
Below that is where I'm keeping the "cover ups" Or foundations. I haven't added the ones I use normally but I'll go over what I do have in here.
1.Maybelline-Dream liquid mousse (Left my skin feeling very dry and heavy. Doesn't work well on my skin. But it doesn't irritate my hubby so I use this for him.)
2.Palladio cover up stick (Thing that looks like lip stick. Works well.)
3.CoverGirl simply powder foundation powder (Feels okay, can become flaky if too much is on.)
4.I.D BareMinerals- powder foundation. (Not the best I've used but it's light works better than covergirl.)
Eye liner/primer and lip wear.
Drawer one (Top drawer) Has all my eyeliners and eyeshadow primer. So let's start....
My favorite eyeliner that works super well. I have sensitive eyes and very poor vision. I touch my eyes a lot so I needed a eyeliner that was strong and wouldn't irritate or smudge easily. I have a few other brands I REALLY love (I used to wear eyeliner heavily, like "goth" heavy. I seriously looked like a raccoon. So I know my eyeliners.)
My favorite. L'oreal Paris- 16 hour infallible never fail eyeliner.
Other eyeliners I have as backups.
L.A Colors- auto liner
Avaon- perfect wear liquid eyeliner
Paco- Eyeliner 011-white
Maybelline new york- Falshies volum' express mascara. (Not sure why its in the lip section. XD. This stuff works wonders! It's noticeable and such a rich black. I love what it does.)
Lips
1.Burts Bees- Radiance lip shimmer (I'm addicted to lip balms, but this is really weird. It's heavy and you can feel each sparkle on your lips. So it's not smooth. I don't wear this often but it does add a nice shine.)
2.Kokeshi- Cherry Blossom lip balm. (For a cheap lip balm this stuff is wonderful!)
3.Prestige lip stick- Slipper (I love this brand for lip sticks.)
4.Kokeshi- Cherry Blossom lip gloss (Super nice! I'm going for a sakura theme!)
5.Rimmel London- Moisture Renew-Pink Benefit (My favorite! It makes my lips so pink! It's sticky but I love the color. It's strong and glossy.)
Bottom part of the trunk.
White box- Clear rubber bands
Got2B pomade (Was told this is a good series to use on wigs. It washes out good and holds the hair in place. I use this for my hubby's wigs.)
Safety pins are also here. 'Nuff said about those.
Kenra is the best hair spray eeeeever. But it's expensive.
So I don't use it on wigs. It's for my hair only.
Opti-free is contact solution. It's wonderful. My eye doctor told me to use it when I used to wear contacts. It's great for sensitive eyes. Works on cosplay contacts too.
You can see my Katy Perry eyelashes. I seriously hated fake eyelashes because I had a hard time getting them on. But after a few tries I got the hang of it and I LOVE how they look. These ones aren't as big as my other ones, so I wear them more often. Very comfortable. Eylure is the best company to get fake eyelashes, or at least I think so.
My eye gems used for my lolita outfit. The little tube of glue is for fake eyelashes. You can buy these gems at art stores, near the scrapbook section. They are sticky on the back but I scrap the sticky part off since they don't stick well to skin and put a little eyelash glue on the back instead. It dries clear and stays on throughout the whole day. I love wearing these!
Last thing. I was told by some other cosplayers that this brand of hairspray is wonderful for cosplay wigs. So I got some for my hubby's wigs since they spike up. I hope it works!
