New cosplay~Sakura-con planning

As some noticed I'm selling our Tsubasa costumes.  In with the old (Okay, they aren't really old.) and in with the new! I'm taking a risk by ordering a new costume this close to the con but I'm giving the site I'm ordering from a second chance since the kimono I need for Yuko is such a good price. It's an amazing deal that includes a fully lined outer kimono and inner kimono plus obi for only 102! I've been scanning sites like ebay and I've found a few kimonos perfect for Yuko but they have always been a lot of money and most of the time aren't lined. I'm really excited about this set because it has the outer coat. Plus it isn't too long so I can waltz around the con comfortably. Which is very important to me since my other costumes involve heels.

So the cosplays I'll be bringing to Sakura are as listed:

~Sharon (Pandora Hearts)
~Caterina (Trinity Blood) *NEW
~Yuko Ichihara (xxxHolic) *NEW

I'll be bringing my Gloomy Bear kigu to wonder around in when I'm too tired to wear cosplay (Late night panels and concerts)

This is what is in store for our Seattle trip.

Day Zero:

We'll be doing things a bit differently this year. Instead of packing the car and taking off we'll be picking up our friend and then going back to my house to pack, so we can easily fit her stuff with ours without ours taking too much room. Then we'll be taking off to Seattle which is about a four-five hour drive. When we arrive we'll head straight to the hotel, get checked in, unpack (AKA drop everything on the floor) and go out to get our badges. Seattle is so much freaking fun we normally wont go back to hotel until later. There is just so much to see, especially since the con is in the middle of the city. This day wont really have a plan besides when we first arrive.

Day one through three aren't planned yet. They will be once the photo shoots are planned and such.

But that's about it for today. I'll post an update tomorrow.

Not sure if it is heat resist, I believe it is but it doesn't need any styling because it is pre-styled and even through it's been washed, it bounced right back to life.

It's a styled wig so it isn't the softest but it holds and the color is very similar if not exact to Syaoran's.

Close up detail of the wig. It is well made, thin but the netting does not show. I have dark brown hair that is thick and long and was able to wear this wig perfectly. This wig has also been washed so it smells fresh and is very soft. There is a little ponytail on the top that was pre-styled and didn't get damaged when washed.

There are two shirts.

The black one under which is sleeveless. It zips up. The zipper is new and doesn't have any issues.

The white/green shirt which is placed over the black has green detailing around the armholes and two buckles to close the vest.

The black belt with sakura detail has many different size options.

Right leg of the pants is white. There was some dirt on the bottom of the pant leg but it has been scrubbed and washed. Along the bottom of the pant legs are small gold buttons and a strip of green fabric. Those are in perfect shape.

Left leg has a green sakura as well as the same green strip and gold buttons. There is also a white strip that goes across the thigh. This cannot be removed.

This cosplay is seriously breath taking in person. It's so nicely made.

Bottom of the outfit. The inner pink skirt is huge! It's very long and made from a high quality fabric. It does drag since it is long but the dirt and dust washes off surprisingly easy. I had someone step on it and it washed right off!

Back view of the top.

Side view. Sleeve and skirt.

Bottom of the skirt. It will be washed before it is given to whoever buys it. There isn't any dirt besides that which has stuck to the thread on the bottom. It's very smooth and has no damage.

The inner jacket. It closes with two large snaps. I added a smaller one on the bottom since I have a large bust and the jacket kept popping up out of the skirt and corset.

Sleeves. There is a inner sleeve that is long so your arms wont be cold!

The larger snaps are like this. There are two.

The snap I added.

I can remove it if you want.

Jacket

Inner skirt.

Closed in the back with a single button and zipper. Neither caused any issues when I wore it. It was very comfortable.

Outer skirt

Back of the outer skirt.

And...

More bells.

Close up of the back part. Very nicely sewn.

"corset" I call it a corset because it was pretty tight. It also has bells and is the outer item that keeps everything else in place. No damage.

Little update, plus some changes

Hi everyone! Its been a while since I've updated and I've decided on a few changes to my blog! As some of you know I have three blogs, one is main blog (Words from a writing addict), my blog about my writing projects (Jessica Gould) and this one for cosplay and lolita, plus reviews. My blog for my writing projects is different from my other two. It has sections for each novel as well as a few other topics (Word count tracker, ect.) I've decided to put up some pages on this blog too. The pages will be showcases for my fiance's and mine cosplays! I'll also be adding pages for different lolita outfits (I only have one right now.)

Now on to my update~

I'm still working on the petticoat for Caterina's costume. Sadly both my mom and I have too busy to sit down and work on it. I would hand sew it myself but I need to learn how to work the sewing machine so I have to wait until both of us are able to work on it. I'm thinking, once I remeasure  my fiance that I'll start cutting the fabric for his coat. I'll have to wait to do Caterina's dress until I have tracing paper for the custom pattern parts.

So there hasn't been much done. Sadly. I'm nervous about finishing on time but once the sewing is done, adding on all the details will get done quickly. I love adding details. Plus the armor pieces will be made out of craft foam, which will be easy to do. So there isn't much going on right now. It's the holidays after all and I'm having issues at work. Hopefully the labor board can help me out with that situation. ;)

Ta-ta for now. I hope you all the best holidays! May you have a wonderful time. Remember to enjoy your family and friends! Good luck and season blessings.

So it starts...

Today I started on the Trinity  Blood cosplays. I just got off work so I'm sorry if this sort or if I make any major spelling errors, my mind isn't working. Anyway, since my fiance gave me the wrong measurements I started on the petticoat for Caterina's dress instead. I thought this way we would have a good shape to copy since we'll be modifying the skirt of the dress pattern that I have. Since I had to work at 7:00 p.m I didn't get much time to do anything. All that has been done is cutting out the pieces of fabric for the petticoat and there were a lot of panels that still need to be cut out, I don't work until Monday so I'll have lots of time to work on it tomorrow.

Tonight I'm going to resew my smaller "cupcake" petticoat that is used for my lolita dress since I did a horrible job sewing in the second layer, now that its on the dress form I can see just how bad I did. So that's about it for now....I'm sleepy.

Choosing Seth's outfit (Picture heavy)

Oh yes. I have firmly decided once I am comfortable sewing and using patterns on my own that Seth, who is my dream cosplay, will be high up on my to-do list. I believe I'll be making a Pandora Heart cosplays before her so I'm guessing Seth will be for Sakura-con 2014. That may change of course but I'm hoping it will be firm. So that made me think...Seth has a lot of outfits. Which should I chose? I already tossed some out, seeing as the bare too much skin and I'm not comfortable showing that much.

I had to redo this post because of how weird the pictures were being and I could not write besides them. So let's try again and see how this looks. By the way my awesome fiance got me a dress form today (Already posted about it) and the planned Trinity Blood cosplays are going to be made later this week.!

Let the pictures began!

This is normally what cosplayers cosplay of her. It's a bit over done (But I have not seen it at either con I go to) I am in love with the train and the details. I've never see anyone cosplay this outfit WITH the golden "wings" Which of course makes me want to make them.

I like the lighter shade of green used for this piece. Plus it has the golden "wings" again which I badly want to make for some reason even through I know they will be a pain.

The only part I don't like is the sleeves. They aren't attached and those are a bad, they like to slide down.

(

This outfit is another one of my favorites. I rather like her big hats. I'm also loving her overly large sleeves and the petal like bottom of her skirt. This is one I haven't seen cosplayed so I might just do this one!

Seth's outfit from the Tarot series. So detailed! I really want to do this one but with all those details I may wait and do a simple version before taking this one up.

Another one of my favorites...who am I kidding I love all her outfits! I really like this one because of the details on the hat. Plus having one green eye and one red would be awesome!

The down side is the dress isn't shown. So I would have to guess. This could be a fun project to make though!

Another awesome version of her Empress outfit. It's a bit different from the first one I posted. Her shoes are more based off the ones she was seen wearing in the novel, author's sketches.

Very similar to the one above, but this was Seth's first appearance in the manga. I'm pretty sure it's based off the one shown above. The sleeves seem to be stuffed with more lace and that skirt is to die for. I really like dresses that have long trains in the back such as this style and I think it could be a lot of fun to wear.

Such a cute outfit! I wish Seth wore more of these casual dresses in the manga! This one is suited for winter and all those ruffles! Gosh it's lovely. This one is from the novels.

From the novels?

From what I can see I'm loving this outfit already. Making faerie like wings could be a fun thing to do and you don't see many Seth's cosplaying with her wings these days. This could also be a fun "casual" outfit I could make before working on one of the harder, more detailed ones.

Not too found of her hat though...its very weirdly shaped.

In the end I am still unsure which I will choice. I can say it will be one of these posted above. I suppose as I pick a date and a con for this outfit I'll slowly cut down on ideas until I've chosen just one. Although I'll most likely being cosplaying Seth for a long time afterwards, since she is my one of my top listed favorite characters.

Soon to come:

Top ten favorite characters (Manga/anime)

Differences between manga and anime Trinity Blood version!

Updates on TB sewing project.

So please come back soon and thank you so much for reading.
